Amy Butler give-away!

Isn't this Sweet Life bag beautiful? It's a give-away, click the image to go to The Fabric Shopper!
I was so tired of my sewing machine I just ordered a new one, a Brother LS-2125. Not too expensive, but it looked good from the reviews. Can't be worse than what I have now, anyway!
Will be here next Tuesday... looking forward to it! I have lots of patterns for lovely softies and beautiful home-decor, my fingers are really itching.
Have a great weekend!

New toy drop and new kit!

Yeah, finally! A new kit! Worked on it last week, after a while not designing. I was asked to make an exclusive kit for Club Scrap at SOTB. There are lots of freebies included, and will be added frequently. You can subscribe to all that for only $10!
I also did another drop for the Toy Society, a denim piglet this time. I dropped it last Saturday in Voorburg, when I visited my friend and her newborn son. Isn't it cute! Sewed it with the wrong sides facing each other this time, as I love how denim frayes :). Used a bandana for the ears, and gave it a felt heart. Now I'm busy with a blue fleece monster, for a Swap-bot swap of profile goodies. Oh, and did I show you the peg-bear that I made a while ago? Don't think so, so here it is:

I put pins in it and send it to my MIL by messenger-boy (aka son), who sew it. I have a terrible crappy machine, thread or needle break every 5 stitches, or it gets jammed. Had it looked after in the shop, didn't help. My MIL, who's an experienced seemstress, couldn't be of any help either, it's just crap. So I'm saving up for a new one. Anyway, somewhere between here and her place the ears got all misplaced, and now he has one on top of his head instead of on the side. Nevertheless it's still cherished by my 4-yo :)

My 3-yo is potty-training... it's a real boy! My 4-yo had to go to the bathroom, after which he followed immediately. Dorian said: "No, go away!" Martin's reply? -"But I wanna see your poop!"
Right... practical education is already his favorite at 3!

My two oldest have only 1 more day to go to school before summer holiday starts, and my 4-yo 2 days... so than it's the dog days for mommy again, 6 weeks long! Fortunately my hubby has the last 3 weeks of their holiday off too, so I'm not alone with 4 little monsters. I love them dearly, but 4 boys can be very exhausting! Especially when they have pdd-nos, or are a toddler in extreme terrible threes (it doesn't stop at 2!), or in pre-puberty....

Toy Drops

A few weeks ago I found this site, The Toy Society. It's a project started in Australia, but spreading quickly through the whole world. People make softies and drop them somewhere to be found by someone else, and so probably make a little (or not so little, judging from the replies by finders) kid happy. I think this is really wonderful! Did 6 drops till now, it's addictive! My first drop, dropped it at a Health Centre. My 2nd, 3rd and 4th drop were the felt softies that I showed in earlier posts HERE and HERE. Dropped the butterfly at a shopping cart spot, the bird at a bike parking lot at a swimming pool and the owl in a school for special education. My 5th drop yesterday, which I dropped at a path where dogs are allowed to run unleashed. (doggie-photo is linked to doggie-pattern)

Seemed an appropriate spot to hang it! It was in the early morning, and moms with toddler will come by and it's also not too far away from schools. So I'm sure it will be found. Will come by again in a few hours, I'm curious! This little bunny is dropped today. It's made from off-white polar-fleece and so cute! It has a big pink fluffy tail and fake-suede ears.

Yesterday my friend had a c-section and got her beautiful son Jules! He's really pretty, beautiful little face and dark hair. Another friend is a photographer, and took some pics of him for the birth-announcement, which I was allowed to make for her.
The card is made with Barefoot Adventures with Daddy, by AnnaBV Designs. She made this kit for round 4 of the DSA SYTYCD-contest. My friend loves froggies, so I searched my stash and made several cards. She chose this one. The other card is blank with the same frame twice, but smaller, one with his full name and the other with the date and time of birth, length and weight. But because it also has her personal info, you'll understand I'm not posting that here. She's going to tie them together with a small green ribbon in the left corner, it will look so awesome!

Found a pattern on the net of these cute Elf Clogs... resized the pattern a bit to have them fit a little baby, added some elastic to the back so they won't fall of... aren't they cute!

Ok, that's it for now, need to bring a little toddler to bed for his nap, he's already upstairs! Have a great day :)

Some more felt cuties

A while ago Kristin Aagard made us CT a personal owl and/or birdie. I used it for my next project. It's the owl at the end of the blinkie, just keep watching :). When I was almost finished, and went back to the computer to see if it had paws or not, I saw I had forgotten the patches around the eyes... it looks cute without them too, though, don't you think?

Look at those eye-lashes! I had the perfect fiber for those, which I glued under the eye-lids.
And a little butterfly with flowers on her wings (in your imagination everything is possible)

This is addictive!

Been crafty!

Lately I have this hands-on period again, and I've made several hybrid things and crafts! Found my package of felt again, and am sewing a lot now. Finished one bird, and making an owl at this moment.
Look what I did in the last couple of weeks:
With MaƩlia's kit Octopuss's Garden from SYTYCD round 3, DSA.

Stationery with Up in the Air, by Kristin Aagard, Gottapixel

Bag toppers for my youngest' birthday treats, with Paint my Easter by IkScrap, E-scape and Scrap

Made this as part of my CT-job for RSC, bird house with June '08 megakit, OSS. For this issue we also had a quilling-paper sponsor, and I dusted off my quilling box and found the bird. Can't remember I made it, so long ago, but I love it :)

Made this box for a challenge at The Hybrid Chick, and won it! $25 for Kelley Ratzlaff's store.
Papers by Royanna Fritschmann, Flea Market Couture. Brads by Avec and generic ribbons/fiber. Base was a spaghetti-mix box of which I cut off 1/3 from the top.

I found this website with cute, cute felt items: http://giftsdefine.com/index.php
Really lovely! But pricy too, so I thought I'd try my hand to do something like that. However not so fancy and perfect as those on Gifts Define, I like how my home-made bird turned out.
If you like the bird, I can put the template up on my blog... If I can find it again, the kids loved it too and it probably is already colored by one of the boys LOL.
A blog that has sparked my interest in the hands-on work again is VLIJTIG, a Dutch blog, but in English. It's such a wealth of inspiration! When I read all those tuts she has (linked to or her own), I'm really sorry to have such a crappy sewing machine...
